Hi, I'm Ashlee Reese, LMHC
Helping You Move Forward
If you are seeking out this page and reading my bio, there’s a decent chance you're considering counseling as an option for you or your child. You’re likely wondering whether I’m the kind of person who would be able to “get” you, accept you, and thoughtfully help you or your child reach goals or find relief.
My greatest goal is to work myself out of a job. Studies have shown, by and large, clients experience the most growth and feel effective enough to leave counseling when they have rapport with their therapist. Because of this, ensuring that I am a competent person for you to be confiding in will be my mission as well.
My faith in Jesus helps guide my practice. In such, I welcome spirituality in the therapy room based on my clients’ preferences when appropriate. Honoring the values of each of my clients, Christian or otherwise, I believe is my ethical and relational duty - and it's one I uphold with due diligence. I have had the great experience of seeing, first-hand, how disarming a safe space to process can be.
In 2023, I was named an honoree of Kitsap's 20 Under 40 Business Leaders.
I have extensive experience working with anxiety in its various forms, including but not limited to generalized anxiety, panic disorders, postpartum fears, and OCD. It can easily become a desperate loop hard to break without the proper tools.
As well, I have spent the bulk of my career helping people tend to and navigate their relationships. Before my private practice opened, I worked as an Agency Affiliated Counselor in Tacoma, helping low-income families and those with acute mental concerns. My primary placement was in the Children's and Families unit. Then as a Therapist at a Christian non-profit counseling center locally in Poulsbo. As a former Montessori teacher, Head Start Family Advocate, and in-home ABA Therapist I learned how vast our attachments are - and how lost we can be when they feel fragmented. This can be due to the challenges of parenting, ruptured love lives, betrayal trauma, or internment and prolonged loneliness. My heartbeat is for community, regardless of the shape or size of yours, and I have been gifted with a unique ability to be present with each variation.
Please feel free to contact me to schedule a free phone consultation so we can get to know each other a little before we schedule a meeting.
